The tools to succeed
The initial reaction of most users to the
Hosted Desktop is one of slight surprise.
Despite the fact that they may no longer see
a PC on the user’s desk, their computer
screen looks almost exactly the same as it
did before.
The user sits down to her (or any other) workstation and is greeted by a log-on
box that asks for her user name and password. Along with being part of your company’s HIPPA
compliance efforts, this is also part of our
method of sectoring each user’s application "profile." Each user has access only to the applications they use to do their job. Further, within each application, users only have access to the parts and files that pertain to them.
Other than the original surprise of seeing a small Thin Client on her desk, the user
also encounters another major difference from the conventional PC network;
there are no media ports. Information cannot be removed from the system in any type of secretive or unapproved way. This is important for two reasons company information is secured, and the internal network is protected from viruses, etc. that may enter through a media port.
A Workstation
The user is provided with complete, secure and contained access to his work-related
functionality. Your users are given the tools they need to do their job. Games, excessive Internet access, etc. are all limited in ways management sets forth.
Help Desk
Our Help Desk utilizes shadowing
capabilities to provide users with instant
technical support. Our Help Desk handles
things as simple as; the creation of
folders, or as complex as a connectivity
problem 3000 miles away
Despite increased managerial controls
(limited Internet etc) that many of our
clients have put in place, we have found
that ultimately our users are delighted that
they are given effective, reliable tools
with which to do their job. |
